Still under the radar for tour groups and guides, Liberty Public Market is San Diego’s newest “big thing”. Essentially similar to Pike Place Market in San Francisco, Liberty Public Market brings together locally owned businesses and their products in one convenient and visually appealing place.
As you park in one of the many large lots near Liberty Station, you’ll see families, couples, and friends enjoying the beautiful San Diego weather outside on the expansive green lawns. Although the large brick building may not seem like much from the outside, inside is a secret that is bound to get out sooner or later.
Once you walk in to Liberty Public Market your senses will be overwhelmed. From the colorful foods lining the corridor to the artfully done signage indicating which amazing eatery you have stumbled upon, you will feel slightly overwhelmed and may need a lap or two to decide what you want to try first.
We recommend starting out with a meal that you can enjoy outside on the beautiful patio area located just outside of the “mess hall” which features a large menu offering beer and wine selections from local growers and breweries.
After that, you can’t walk around the rest of the market without stopping for a dessert and coffee. For something small and delicate like macarons; we suggest seeking our Le Parfait Paris before grabbing a warm cortado with carefully done latte art from West Bean Roasters.
For something more substantial, head over to Crafted Baked Goods for one of their over the top cakes, cupcakes, ice cream, tarts, or fudge.
After such an indulging dessert you might also consider grabbing a fresh pressed juice from Fully Loaded Juice to enjoy while walking around outside along the water.
